1st Prowler EverHas anyone came up with a solution for the vibrating serpentine belt on the 99's? Has there been a second idler bracket and pulley made for these? Rob, 99 purple/red.
RPLThe alternator with a one way clutch used on the 2000 and later cars helps.
jimsuttonThe Idler bracket and pulley are the same as used on the Chrysler 300m - and other Chrysler 3.5 motors .. as for the Alternator clutch that might be where the noise is coming from ??? I had that problem and the Clutch replace was the fix ...
ALLEY CATFYI, which may or may not be useful - From an old post:

quote:
"the 90 amp alt was used on the '97 and early '99,,,,then the Prowler went to 130 amp for the rest of production run."

Believe the early ones were NipponDenso,,,then switched to Mitsu alternators ?

The 130 amp alternators use the decoupler pulley......

1st Prowler EverMine has the regular solid pulley on the alternator. Not familiar with the clutch style, saw pics of it, maybe more to go wrong?
Tomcal
Chrysler solved this problem by replace standard alternator with decoupling unit. Black snoot on front of pulley is decoupled/override mechanism. Direct bolt on replacement. No modifications needed. Used on many Chrysler 3.5L engines. Pick alternator up at a junk yard if need be.

Also, be sure to re-check belt for correct tension. Critical.
